Futility of Life

All human beings are subject to decay,

When fate summons they have to obey,

Human kind a moody and murmuring race,

Fools are more hard to conquer with grace,

Let’s pierce their actions with great insight,

The nymphs of rosy lips and radiant eyes,

Whom pleasure keeps too busy to be wise,

From every room descends the painted face,

They frown in vanity and sneer with  pride,

Here flattery soothes and emotion blinds,

Each nymph their rival, each youth their slave,

With ultimate pride they rule the fools scatterbrained!

How would one shake people’s vanity ingrained?

Dart the taunt and edge piercing gibe,

Their thirst for fame, burning to be great,

They mount,shine,fall and evaporate,

Monsieur is an epitome of perfect image,

In friendship false and implacable in hate,

Resolved to rule or ruin the state,

Humorists and sycophants this wise man produced,

Matured in dullness from his tender age,

Hates peace and justice says no to truce,

Unlocks his gold, count it till he dies,

Dear God supremely good and wise,

Pour forth thy favours for healthy mind,

For good of man the laws of heaven were ordained!!
