Yunus(a.s.)

Yunus(a.s.) from Iraq,

Invited people to the right path,

People refused to turn to God,

Yunus(a.s.) became upset,he left the town,

Without seeking consent from Ar-Rahman,

Calm skies of nineveh turned red,

Soon people gathered at mountain tops,

They beseeched forgiveness from God,

Finally Allah removed His wrath,

Yunus (a.s.) boarded ship,to begin his voyage,

As night fell,a dreadful storm arose,

In the ship lots were cast,

In the lot Yunus’s(a.s.) name was drawn,

Yunus jumped off the ship in ocean dark,

Swallowed by whale,then cast on dry land!

He turned to Allah in whale’s belly seeking solace,

Verily Allah delivered him from distress,

Peace be upon Yunus,the prophet whom Allah

favoured.
