In the land of Canaan,a baby boy was born,
A beautiful boy,Yusuf he was called,
Envy lurked in his brothers heart,
Plotting deceit they put him in well,
Rescued by travellers,in trifling was sold,
Arrived in Egypt,as destiny unfolds,
Seeing her husband’s slave so elegant,
His beautiful wife had a new obsession,
One fateful day in a passion’s sway,
She lured Yusuf to her tempting ways,
Seeking God’s refuge,Yusuf ran away,
For her wounded pride,he paid the price,
Falsely implicated with grievous offence,
With no violation he was kept in dungeon,
With great patience he bore this humiliation,
Fellow captives learned his trait of dream interpretation,
Yusuf opined-“One of you will serve wine the other will be slained,”
Yusuf’s decree with truth did reign,
King of Egypt had a strange dream!
Seven fat cows were devoured by cows seven lean,
In King’s court whispers rise,a man in prison so intelligent and wise,
Yusuf was summoned from the dungeon,
To interpret the Egypt King’s vision,
“Seven years of plenty, followed by seven years of dearth,
Prepare for famine across the earth,”
Said Yusuf to which king obliged,
Impressed with his faculty,King made him in charge of granaries,
Came his brothers with younger one Bin Yamin,
To his brothers he revealed his identity,
Forgave them for their treachery,
Thus they were re-united with Allah’s will,
Through tests and trials Yusuf passed out well,
Allah raised him from slave to highest rank,
In His wisdom we find contentment,
This story of guidance is held with great reverence.
