The Mask before Omniscient

Religion makes man virtuous or wise,

Or breeds hypocrisy beneath its guise,

To his own faults he is wilfully blind,

He sought to hide from Omniscient’s sight,

With his conscience he makes compromise,

And wore a mask before heedless eyes,

His natural love of self-love is at heights,

In pious guise he stands with head held high,

He deemed all vice a stranger’s vice,

And held his faults at a distance twice,

Yet he cries,”others guilt should be brought to light,”

He judge all men yet deem himself upright,

Verily hypocrisy is cowardice in disguise,

The falsehood falls and truth shall rise,

May Allah turn his heart from paths of pride,

And teach him truth before His watchful sight,

And lead his heart to the eternal light.
